This was the first time I had ever driven on the other side of the road and the thought of driving in the dark on a non-major road was a bit daunting at first, but it turned out to be just nice.
Driving from Zagreb to Plitviče Lake was a nice, smooth drive. As we only managed to get a car in the evening, we had a pretty sunset view on our way down.
We got to our AirBnB about 2.5hrs later and was greeted by a nice man, with helpful information on how we could "tackle" the park. The room was really clean, neat and tidy! Definitely plus point. You can find the link here.
Photo on the left is a view from our window which overlooks a field, the middle one is the whole place itself and the one on the right is the path to the national park.
We got lost for a bit getting to the entrance from our AirBnb, thankfully a local was passing us and pointed us in the right direction. I blame the thick blanket of Autumn's fallen leaves though, they pretty much covered whatever trail there was.
I'm sure during Summer, this place is pretty epic too but I think just with this experience of Autumn in Plitvice, I'm definitely visiting epic landscape places in Autumn in the future. That and because Summer is usually annoyingly hot!
There are actually two parts (somewhat) to the park for you to check out the lakes and falls. We started off with the smaller ones before going to the huge ones. I think we walked about 12-15km that day. We did take a boat across one of the lakes to get to the big falls though, instead of walking around the lake. :)
While we spent the whole day walking, I guess pacing yourself and taking your time helps. There were loads of hobbyists photographers, who very often would clog up walk ways and even those narrow plank bridges. So, bring not just your shoes but also some patience. Heh.
Look at the ridiculous colors!!
Alright, that's all for now. Next up, Split!
